Bunny Service

The sex industry has a pretty rotten reputation amongst the general population. With news stories usually covering workers who had been beaten to death and raped, it is fair to understand why. What is not seen on the news however, are workers who enjoy their jobs, some even describing it as liberating. Most of these workers are those who are not the typical prostitute, stripper, and escort, but a whole new side of sex work such as cam models, “kittens”, and role play workers. So, although their situations might not be exactly the same as those who work on the Bunny Ranch, they are sex workers nonetheless. A job like this despite it’s insecurity is seen to be very uplifting for the worker, The normalization and the acception of sex work as a career can be encouraging, inspiring, and profitable for the worker.

It is common knowledge that most prostitutes are often met by multiple clients a day, giving very little time to cleanse and/or disinfect their bodies to keep good hygiene, that said, not allowing genitalia to recover  can result in sexually transmitted infections, or STIs for short. If sex workers were to continue with their services, the spread of sexually transmitted infections will increase and make it unsafe to engage in sexual activities when no one knows who has an sexually transmitted infection until one is able to see, which is usually far too late (Sherwood). Also, depending on the contract of the prostitute, sexually transmitted infection information may or may not be given out which can result in the sudden illness or even death, thus then creating widespread panic to everyone around. Prostitutes would even be targeted with violence due the fear of the public, making any worker related to the service fear for their own lives, relatives, and friends involved. Other symptoms that could arise would be depression, anxiety, and in very rare cases, insanity.

However, with more and more sex workers being making the industry more common, the practice of genital hygiene has gone up. Also the awareness of other sexually transmitted diseases have been on the parade which in turn adds even more awareness of the conditions of sex workers making health officials supervise them better. The more the sex industry has the lime light, the more changes will be made as people begin to realize that the conditions are inhumane and that the actual service is a legitimate service with reasonable codes of conduct in place for all the clients to understand and respect.

It is true that there are those who take advantage of the sex industry and abuse and rape the workers, who are predominately female. It is also true that the majority of workers are people who could no longer support their family and/or were forced into it. So in turn of these situations, there is not much a worker can do in terms of having the possibility of losing the income they have, or possibly their life when being faced with opportunistic clients that recognize their desperation and use it to their advantage (Sherwood). Most of the population, because they do not know of the risks, believes that sex workers are women who don’t respect themselves, so being one could develop a very negative impression on the worker.

However, those who do chose to work as sex workers claim they find confidence in their sexuality by working with it rather than being ignorant and abstinent. There are many things that a sex worker learns from their work that allows them to be involved in healthy and safe sexual practices. Such important information like how to have sex, what are the guidelines to role play or bdsm, and so on. This allows them not only to be knowledgeable on what should happen during intercourse but also to guide others on the correct practices with their own intimacy (Sherwood). This could help even with rape as most rapist are either people who are not confident in their ability so they choose ‘easier’ targets as a way to cope with not engaging in intercourse. This could also help with the talk of sex, making it more common to talk about therefore making it less taboo. Although this is already in motion, legalizing sex work on a more broader stance would greatly increase the rate in which it is accepted.

By having the title of a sex worker, many people will think along the lines as ‘easy’, which relates to the time it takes to convince one of doing something that is not conventionally normal or in their comfort zone. Due to this, by being a sex worker, it essentially implies that clients get the right of say no matter what the person giving the service is okay with which is not okay in the view of common human mannerism. This leads to violence against those who say no to the client's offer and in more recent cases, violence regardless of the answer (Journal). This violence also can lead into the personal lives of those sex workers, who are mainly women, and those who are not associated with any kind of sex work due to the clients taking what they do in private, to those they interact with in public (Sherwood). All of this also leads to the exploitation of child pornography (Dove). In effect of violence against women, clients take it to their daughters, or other young girls, to demonstrate the sexuality as previous sex workers have, resulting in mental disorders on their bodies that can follow a child through to adulthood in the form of mental disorders such as anorexia, depression, and hyper-sexuality disorder. Then this will result in their outlooks on sex varying much more differently than those who did not experience this.

Throughout all of the violence, sex workers still manage to prove all those who pity them wrong by embracing all the cons. Many start protests for people, who are mainly women, in abusive relationships, people who have been raped and people who have been in other similar situations as a way to not only stop the violence, but encourage other sex workers to not fear going into the services. Sex workers inspire others to keep pursuing their service  Although many sex workers are often paid very little or not at all, especially with prostitutes and cam girls, workers like strippers and escorts can make a decent amount of money to live off of and provide for their families. They are of the few workers who can claim that they earned their money.

Although most profits of sex workers go to the club they work for, ‘pimps’, and managers of their work, if that money was taxed, the money that is generated to keep things going could be beneficial for the economy if it were to be taken as a real job (Sherwood). Not only would they have the funds to support their family but if it were to become a legal job everywhere, the amount of money that could be generated would be humongous. With that amount of money integrated into the economy, there could be a boost of circulation which would allow everyone to enjoy the possibility of lower prices. Also, workers could then enjoy money to spend on themselves or their families which would also improve the United States’ consumerism economy.

Sex work is not a job to be taken lightly, out of all the outcomes possible whether it be violence, prejudice, or even the chance of death, sex workers should be respected for their endurance through such situations. It takes massive amounts of courage to deal with an industry that treats most of their workers like sex objects than normal, hard working people. Those that choose this work, almost always manage to find it being liberating by taking a service that is mostly seen as taboo and creating it into a form of art. This encourages others, mainly women, to no longer hide or be disgusted with their natural urges or intimacy levels despite what has been the social norm for the past decades. This also inspires other workers who are in similar working environments, living conditions, or social status that their work does not define who they are. Although the cons to sex work are larger in number, the side for sex work has a way to solve all those issues with the cons with realistic solutions. For example, the number one con was that it encourages the spread of sexual transmitted diseases; however, if sex work were to become legal, health regulations would then have to follow, thus making the service far safer than ever before (Sherwood). Another example would be that there would be less of astigmatism on sex because then more people would know more about the service and about sex in general which would allow people to be more comfortable with their sexual urges and desires.

The Second Industrial Revolution

From the 1860's to the 1900's manual labor was replaced by technology and machinery that caused a huge uproar. Numerous factories were being opened, causing a great migration of immigrants moving to compacted cities. Anyone looking for a greater opportunity left their small farms, belongings, and old lives to begin a fresh start, which had a social impact on society.  From the book, American Horizon, it has mention urbanization and migrations that improves and diminish society. A journalist named Horace Greeley wrote that not everyone can fit in these cities but  yet everyone wants to, expressing how any civilian will do anything in their power to live in the crowded cities(American Horizon,614). First of all, with an abundant amount of huge corporations opening, this leads to jobs being available. Large numbers of families had to live in a tiny apartment since that was all they could afford. People were fighting for jobs since the population keeps doubling and the middle class was growing. With the second industrial revolution, transportation was being modernized like railroads, subway, and buses. These new inventions were a cheap urban transportation helping the thousands of individuals living in the cities(American Horizon,618). With a growing population there has been various inventions that change people's lives eternally and to this day is still being improved such as telephones. On the other hand, machinery did have a negative impact on society, since it was taking jobs and dismissing workers. People were reproducing like rabbits causing children to be labeled as “delinquents” roam the streets. Then how unsanitary the streets were, it was not pleasant to see or smell, but indoor plumbing was created later on in the years. Finally with all the different kind of agriculture coming to the cities, immigrants were adapting to the assorted changes and trying to become American. Being American is rejecting their traditions like arranged marriages, unemployed females, and different types of clothing making the young immigrants change their traditions(America Horizon, 631). Education was being applied to children and entertainment was expanding creating favorable circumstances. Therefore, through the second industrial revolution urbanization and immigration had a social impact that kept developing to where America is now.

19.2 Two Views on the Philippines Question

In the midst of improvement, the United States comes to be able to decide which areas of land and population they can take control over. However in “Two views on the Philippines Question: Excerpts from Andrew Carnegie, “Distant Possessions” (August 1898) and Albert Beveridge, “The March of the Flag” (September 16, 1898)”, the dispute over whether or not the United States should colonize the Philippines stems from their vastly different views. For Andrew Carnegie, he believed that colonizing the Philippines would only bring a great expense to the United States as they would not be able to return the investment, that it would take more money to govern them, and due to their dependence they will not be able to make profit in return. Also that they will be in need of protection so a militia would be necessary to maintain the colony in order to keep other countries away (Carnegie). Albert Beveridge on the other hand had thought more along the lines of taking them under ‘civilized’ peoples wings in order to improve their state of living. That it is their job to take “savages” and teach them the ways of civilization. In his argument, he even states that the people of the Philippines would prefer to be rescued under the rule of the United States as their own homeland was chaotic (Beveridge). Both seem to be speaking for the betterment of the United States as both stated that what they had claimed would be in best interest as in terms of control, revenue, and colony appeal. However, Andrew Carnegie also claims that the reason for his advice was due to the current state of the United States, expressing that it was in no shape to take on another territory and that it would essentially exhaust its resources. In contrast, Beveridge stated that the United States and its people should continue forth in spreading its influence as it is control of many territories has already been certain. Also stating that there is much more to do to improve the colonies that have been taken over such as new forms of transportation and agriculture (Beveridge).

I have chosen "Bunny Service" because it is a topic that i am very passionate about and it an issue that deserves to be debated. I know many people in the industry who are taken advantage of because of what they do and I hope that by giving others the chance to read a alternate opinion that the issue will gain more light. Then next two sample are examples of my best writing as both of them are papers of my highest grade and my most well written writing.
